On September 2, 2025, Brazil’s Yago Dora achieved surfing glory at the one-day, winner-takes-all WSL Finals held at Cloudbreak, Fiji. Facing off against American Griffin Colapinto, Dora showcased electrifying aerials, fierce rail work, and unwavering strategic mastery with his Signature Dakine Traction Pad under foot to secure his first world title with a total of 15.66 over Colapinto’s 12.33.
Setting the Tone —and the Champion’s Mindset
Scoring a 7.33 on his opening wave, Dora set the tone early with sharp, surgical turns. He sealed the deal with a show-stopping 8.33, delivering just enough to stay ahead of a late challenge from Colapinto—who had previously upset top contenders Italo Ferreira and Jordy Smith.
Reflecting on his victory amid the scenic Fijian arena, Dora said:
"It's unbelievable. The signs were all there for me. I felt something special this week, since I got here in Fiji, I knew something was going my way."
At 29, hailing from Florianópolis and riding confident as the top seed, Dora became a fitting addition to what is often called the “Brazilian Storm.” His title continues Brazil’s dominance in men’s surfing—securing the world title every year since 2014, except for John John Florence's wins in 2016, 2017, and 2024.

Sealing a Legacy—with Flair and Precision
Dora’s campaign peaked with marquee wins earlier in the season at Portugal and at Trestles (Lowers), where he rattled off near-perfect scores—9.53 and 8.37 en route to those victories. Cloudbreak became the stage of his coronation: a defiant, style-laden victory over a strong contender that solidified his place among surfing’s elite.
